GX-4 & GX-8 Amplifier/Combiner
The GX-4 & GX-8 are considered RF equalizers because of their proprietary Automatic Level Control (ALC) circuitry. The power level of each frequency at the output of the combiner is a maximum of 250 milli Watts. This is the FCC maximum allowable limit for RF In Ear Monitor (IEM) systems in the UHF band. The GX-4 is an RF IEM transmitter combiner/booster. It may be fed RF signals from Garwood, Shure or Sennheiser IEM transmitters across the radio band from 470MHz - 750MHz. The system accepts input power levels from 20 - 100 mW. Each input contains its own discreet RF amplifier and ALC circuits. The signals are amplified to the power level needed to produce 250 mW of RF at the output antenna port.

The monitor engineer may expect equivalent range from all IEM systems regardless of frequency, power level, brand or model at the input. In addition, the increased RF power output provides a cleaner audio signal at the receiver pack. This makes the GX-4 an extremely comforting tool in the professional audio realm. The GX-4 uses independent single frequency RF amplifiers for each incoming IEM signal. This reduces intermodulation distortion (IMD), harmonics and spurious transmissions. The result is a cleaner RF signal across the spectrum minimizing self generated interference onto microphones, intercommunications and other RF production equipment. The GX-4 accepts up to four IEM transmitters and combines them onto one antenna. When coupled to a PWS helical antenna, crystal clear and drop out free coverage of virtually any venue, up to and including a large stadium, may be expected. For smaller venues we have included a low power switch. In the low power mode, all transmitters are consistent at 50 mW. The low power mode is adequate for most venues.
